Agricultural and Natural Resources Program Manager

The County Extension Agent role focuses on overseeing the Agricultural and Natural Resources initiatives within the community. This position is dedicated to delivering educational programs in areas such as small-scale farming, livestock management, horticulture, and natural resource conservation to diverse audiences through various instructional methods.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as a consultant and educator for local agricultural and natural resource matters.
- Establish collaborative relationships with farmers, landowners, stakeholders, and fellow county agents to enhance outreach efforts related to Agriculture and Natural Resources.
- Leverage insights from advisory groups, community leaders, and public officials to assess community needs and develop relevant educational programs.
- Create a comprehensive work plan that addresses the diverse socioeconomic requirements of the community.
- Conduct promotional activities to broaden public awareness of extension programming.
- Utilize research findings and current issues to inform program development.
- Identify target audiences for educational initiatives that address significant issues outlined in the work plan.
- Implement the Civil Rights/Equal Opportunity plan of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary programs that address critical community issues.
- Engage with other extension programs, such as 4-H and Family and Consumer Sciences, to foster collaboration.
- Work alongside various agencies and community organizations to plan and execute programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
A Master's degree in Agriculture or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable for provisional appointments.
Preferred Skills:- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong public speaking and teaching abilities.
- Experience in organizing and implementing youth programs.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various stakeholders.
- Professional demeanor in all interactions.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to engage with diverse groups.
