The Maintenance Technician/Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. This position works closely with the Department Manager, Plant Manager, Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, and Engineering. The position requires good communication skills. Must be able to plan and prioritize issued assignments according to need. Expected to maintain overall care of the manufacturing machines, support equipment, and utilities. Requires research, brainstorming, and fact-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Follow all safety and HESS policies.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Thoroughly clean machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
- Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Order and install replacement parts for machines.
- Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
- Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Collaborate with product managers or plant engineers regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
- Make necessary modifications and implement test runs; confer with product managers regarding test results and make additional alterations to machinery as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- A minimum of 4 years of maintenance experience.
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret documents such as safety rules, prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Forklift certified.
- Welding.
- Torch work.

The work is primarily performed in a typical manufacturing environment. Wear safety attire or protective gear, when posted. May be exposed to distracting noise levels, may work within a few feet of other workers. For the most part, ambient room temperatures and lighting as found in a typical office environment. Will be exposed to heat, cold, and smells. Expect to work in confined spaces.
