Registered Nurse II Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides a variety of nursing care services, case management, treatment planning, teaching, counseling, and referral to clients and families in a home and/or community setting. The incumbent coordinates care with other healthcare providers, professionals, and agencies, and assists in the prevention of communicable diseases.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse II is a journey-level class where incumbents have had the required professional nursing experience and are capable of independently performing the full range of nursing care services. The incumbent is distinguished from the next higher level of Registered Nurse III in that the latter acts as a lead nurse providing consultation and assisting in the supervision of lower-level staff within a program, unit, or site.
Responsibilities:- Provides nursing care services, case management, treatment planning, teaching, counseling, and referral to clients and families in a home and/or community setting.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare providers, professionals, and agencies.
- Assists in the prevention of communicable diseases.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Possession of a current and valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Some positions may require possession of a current and valid Public Health Nurse (PHN) Certificate issued by the State of California.
- Some positions may require a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
- Experience in a clinical and/or public health setting.
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, procedures, techniques, standards, and practices of public health nursing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively orally and in writing, teach and counsel patients, families, and staff, exercise independent judgment, interpret data, analyze, evaluate, and draw logical conclusions, respond effectively to emergency situations, and exercise interpersonal sensitivity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, other agencies, and the public.
The Registered Nurse II works in a variety of settings, including home and community settings, and may be required to work in emergency situations. The incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
