Melmark New England is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing and resolving health concerns for individuals in our school and residential programs. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong general nursing skills, with experience in caring for individuals with emotional, behavioral, neurological, or developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care for individuals in school and residential programs.
  • Assess and monitor health care plans for effectiveness and quality of care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including nursing care plans and treatment documentation.
  • Transcribe and execute physicians' orders while ensuring continuity of care.
  • Act as a liaison between individuals, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Respond to crisis situations and resolve student or family health-related complaints.
  • Conduct family healthcare education to enhance knowledge and behavior around health interventions.
  • Participate in individual care goal setting and ensure staff are properly trained in healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Residential Services and other program leaders on health-related issues.
  • Participate in committees and lead healthcare-related trainings for staff.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure through the Massachusetts Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and minimum age of 21.
