Position Summary:
We are in search of a qualified Laundry Service Specialist responsible for ensuring the proper washing, drying, and storage of linens and garments to uphold Pyramid Hotel Group's high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate washing and drying machinery, load and unload laundry from equipment.
- Measure and apply cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications.
- Monitor washer feeder information, ensuring all drums are adequately filled, and report any discrepancies to the immediate supervisor.
- Empty the laundry chute and prepare loads for washing.
- Pre-sort and categorize linens by classification and transport them to workstations.
- Utilize folding equipment to fold mats, blankets, towels, bedspreads, etc.
- Identify laundry requiring mending or special stain treatment.
- Maintain cleanliness of empty hampers.
- Set appropriate drying and cooling times for various types of linens.
- Clean machines and surrounding areas.
- Restock the linen room with cleaned items.
Additional Responsibilities:
Regular attendance in accordance with the standards established by Pyramid Hotel Group is essential for the successful performance of this role. Employees with inconsistent attendance may face disciplinary actions, including potential termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to meet the hotel's business needs.
Upon employment, all employees must fully comply with Pyramid Hotel Group's rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations may be subject to disciplinary actions, including potential termination.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performing essential functions, this position may require a combination of supportive tasks, with the percentage of time allocated to each function determined by the supervisor based on the hotel's specific requirements.
Assist other roles within the department as needed or as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Working knowledge of laundry chemicals and their effects on various types of linens.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
- Physical capability to lift, bend, stoop, push, or pull heavy loads, and stand for extended periods. Requires lifting bundles of linen weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to push and/or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 lbs.
- Basic comprehension of the English language sufficient to understand safety labels and instructions.
Qualification Standards:
Education:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High School Graduate preferred.
Experience:
None required; laundry experience preferred.
Licenses or Certificates:
None.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other:
Prefer understanding of the English language.
Note:
The hotel operates seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours a day.
All employees, both management and hourly, must recognize this fact and understand that it may be necessary to adjust shifts based on business demands.
