The Academic Advisor I role at Middle Georgia State University is a critical position that supports student retention and graduation by providing data-informed advising services. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with students to develop personalized educational plans, ensuring they achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide accurate and timely academic advising to students, including course selection and registration assistance.
- Assist students in defining and developing realistic educational career plans, taking into account academic policies, major requirements, and graduation needs.
- Collaborate with students to monitor progress toward educational goals, using data to inform advising decisions.
- Serve as a resource specialist, connecting students with institutional resources such as the Student Success Center, Academic Affairs, and Counseling Services.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and stay current with University policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
- Experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising or a related field.
- Knowledge of admission, registration, and degree program requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
