Job Overview

Position: HVAC Journeyman

Building Systems & Services, Inc. (BSS) stands as a premier provider of commercial and industrial HVAC solutions, encompassing equipment, service, and building automation systems. We are on the lookout for a qualified HVAC Journeyman to enhance our expanding service operations. This role focuses on the installation and maintenance of systems related to air conditioning, heating, ventilation, humidity regulation, and energy efficiency. Candidates must possess the ability to diagnose and rectify HVAC issues, demonstrate reliability, and exhibit strong customer service capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve intricate HVAC and control system issues, utilizing comprehensive knowledge of electronic and digital control systems, while ensuring proper testing, servicing, and maintenance.
  • Offer field-based recommendations for system retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements. Collaborate with sales teams by providing technical insights for potential sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Service Managers, Project Managers, or subcontractors on various projects to ensure seamless operations.
  • Create sketches of field modifications and discrepancies for engineering adjustments and documentation. Assist in job layouts and proposal submissions.
  • Conduct system startups and provide training to clients on HVAC equipment and control systems operations. This includes mechanical system startups, configuring controllers, and completing all necessary documentation.
  • Utilize manufacturer/vendor resources and catalogs to locate technical documentation and replacement part numbers, advising clients on alternatives or modifications as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman Certificate from an accredited Apprenticeship Program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in HVAC system servicing is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to represent the organization professionally to clients and external contacts.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift is necessary.
  • HVAC Journeyman Certificate is required.
  • NATE certification is preferred.
  • Possession of an EPA Refrigeration License is essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Successful completion of criminal background checks and drug testing is mandatory for BSS and client job sites.
