Position Overview

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe execution of surgical operations. This position is primarily responsible for assisting the surgical team, including surgeons and registered nurses, throughout various procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the surgical environment by arranging drapes, instruments, solutions, and necessary equipment.
  • Maintain all surgical instruments and equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Assist in the preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping of patients prior to surgery.
  • Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures while maintaining a count of all instruments and supplies.
  • Handle specimens appropriately for laboratory analysis.
  • Execute preoperative tasks, including the selection and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies, while anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
  • Perform various duties related to the surgical unit, adhering to established hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Current Surgical Tech Certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a general operating room setting.
