Job Summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician IV to join our facility operations & maintenance team in East Peoria, IL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level electrical maintenance and repair services to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical equipment and control circuits from 24v to 480V AC
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical systems, including HVAC units, motors, lighting systems, and control circuits
  • Work with equipment and systems related to pumps, VFDs, PLCs, and chillers
  • Provide instruction, mentorship, and training to less skilled technicians as needed
  • Effectively communicate with site management and customers to understand requirements, solve electrical problems, and provide solutions to manufacturing issues
  • Identify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures
  • Perform general maintenance of equipment and perform work following standard NFPA 70E (NEC) requirements
  • Read schematics and one-line diagrams to determine solutions for problems that arise
  • Perform safety and hazard assessments prior to performing any work
  • Inspect and document findings, communicate with clients and management on issue resolution and work completion
  • Respond to calls and take necessary actions
  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance
  • Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or demonstrated equivalent
  • Electrician Certificate from an apprenticeship program or equivalent Associate's Technical degree
  • 5 years of experience working with electrical systems and equipment
  • Experience working safely with voltages up to 480V
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical one lines and schematics
  • Valid driver's license
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment, including multimeters, meggers, and verifiers
  • Familiarity with distribution panels and switchboards
  • Ability to follow company Lockout/Tagout procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in industrial technology or certificate from an industrial electrical course
  • Experience working as a licensed electrician
  • Knowledge of lighting, lighting control, and commercial systems
  • Experience installing rigid conduit and EMT up to 3 inches
  • Working knowledge of NEC, sizing wire and transformers, calculating conduit fill
  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing 3-phase motors up to 60 HP
  • Experience with a CMMS or Maintenance Management System (i.e. Maximo, MP2, etc.)
  • NFPA-70E training preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during a shift
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel repetitively during a shift
  • Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for a shift
  • Ability to stretch and reach on a repetitive basis for a shift
  • Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during a shift
  • Use of a Company/Client-approved utility knife
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement
Special Requirements
  • Wear steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
Other Attributes
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required
  • May be required to work holidays and weekends
