Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Metallurgy and Materials Science Intern to join our team at Steel Dynamics, Inc. for a Summer 2025 internship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering and metallurgy principles to assist in the performance of engineering duties.
  • Conduct and analyze mill experiments on the galvanizing line to optimize production processes.
  • Develop and write comprehensive reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on ongoing projects to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Utilize various laboratory equipment for process analysis and data collection.
  • Analyze data and report trends to operations and quality assurance personnel to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with operations and quality assurance personnel to drive project success.
  • Participate in day-to-day engineering activities in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment.
  • Develop trials based on research and needs to drive process improvement.
Requirements
  • Candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Candidates must have completed at least their freshman year of study.
  • A preferred GPA of at least 2.7.
