Position Summary
The Vice President of Financial Operations is accountable for overseeing budgetary and fiscal management as well as all business and finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the principal advisor to the college president and senior leadership on all financial matters.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that the college's financial resources are utilized strategically and effectively to enhance student success and community contributions.
- Supervise administrative personnel within the accounting and business services departments.
- Oversee all financial functions, including cashiering, accounts receivable, collections, inventory management, accounts payable, procurement, budgeting, and grant accounting.
- Manage the month-end closing process and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the annual budget preparation and maintain documentation of processes and decisions.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and oversee internal controls.
- Prepare financial forecasts and conduct trend analysis.
- Review and update college policies related to finance and business operations.
- Prepare various financial reports and analyses as required.
- Facilitate training for departmental staff.
- Coordinate the annual audit process and prepare necessary documentation.
- Participate in various committees representing the Finance division.
- Implement initiatives to improve employee skills and morale within the Finance division.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of accounting experience, including budget forecasting, is required, with at least 2 years in governmental or higher education accounting standards and 3 years in a supervisory role.
Work Environment
The primary workplace is the main campus of Cleveland State Community College, with occasional travel to off-campus sites as necessary.
