Job Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat and care for patients with breathing disorders, utilizing their expertise to provide optimal care and improve patient outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures to address breathing disorders.
  2. Create and maintain accurate patient records to ensure seamless care.
  3. Select, assemble, check and operate respiratory equipment to ensure proper function.
  4. Read prescriptions, review and input patient information to process orders efficiently.
  5. Verify patient insurance eligibility, deductible and copayments to ensure timely payment.
  6. Act as the patient's advocate, utilizing all available resources to assist in their plan of care.
  7. Proactively recommend items needed by the customer to improve satisfaction and transaction profitability.
  8. Work collaboratively with providers, patients and other healthcare providers to provide the most beneficial and cost-effective respiratory treatments.
  9. Ensure proper documentation is in place for billing of respiratory products.
  10. Accountable for gathering required documentation for audits of respiratory claims.
  11. Responsible for instructing patients on proper use of respiratory equipment.
  12. Accountable for the set up and operating of devices such as Nebulizers, Oxygen Concentrators and CPAP and BiPAP machines.
  13. Perform follow-up consultations with patients to evaluate effectiveness of treatment.
  14. Monitor patient's responses to therapy and consult with provider regarding outcomes.
  15. Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, ordering repairs when necessary.
  16. Enforce safety rules and ensure careful adherence to providers' orders.
  17. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  18. Take call on a rotational basis.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  20. Provide emergency care, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation if needed.
