Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at LaSalle Corrections. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our offenders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sick call screening and physical examinations under the supervision of physicians and based on physician's orders and protocols.
  • Record health care complaints and take patient histories.
  • Take and record necessary vital signs for laboratory examinations and issue routine treatment provided according to physician's orders and protocol.
  • Assist physicians in providing emergency health services in life-threatening medical emergencies, including suicide prevention.
  • Participate in the screening and primary management of providing health services to offender patients in confinement based on physician's orders and using physician's protocols.
  • Maintain examination rooms and check operational status of health services equipment and supplies to ensure secure, ready-to-use status.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing medical examinations and assessments, document results of assessments.
  • Give injections, take blood pressure, administer and record urine, draw blood, and administer oxygen.
  • Care for minor wounds (sterile techniques).
Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing health support services in a hospital, clinic, or infirmaries.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Two (2) years of Licensed Vocational Nursing experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience working in an institutional or residential setting.

Continuous sitting per shift. Continuous periods of walking and standing per shift. Occasional climbing stairs per shift. Remaining awake and alert while on duty per shift. Lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs periodically and lifting up to 50-100 lbs rarely. Frequently working on computers/tablets throughout the shift. Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, & twisting.

Pay: $27.00 an hour. Shift Differential: $3.00 = 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, $5.00 = 6:00 pm - 6:00 am.
