Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration and Eligibility Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Admissions department, you will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely information about their financial responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits
  • Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals
  • Interview patients and/or families to obtain demographic and financial information
  • Register patients for Laboratory and clinics
  • Provide billing information to Ambulance Services
  • Process eligibility for financial assistance programs
  • Refer patients to community financial resources
  • Perform training and outreach with registration and admitting personnel
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital employees
Requirements
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • 2 years directly related experience
  • Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo (non-essential)
Working Conditions

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

No or min hazard, physical risk, office environment. May be required to travel to various work sites. May be required or is required to rotate work shifts.
