The Actors Fund Home is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Healthcare Unit Coordinator to manage essential clerical and administrative tasks while ensuring the integrity of medical documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Efficiently screen and direct all incoming visitors and phone inquiries, providing accurate information as needed.
- Promptly respond to the call bell system to ensure resident needs are met without delay.
- Oversee the procurement and maintenance of medical supplies for the Nursing department, including processing invoices.
- Assist the Nursing department in coordinating resident re-admissions by liaising with hospitals and discharge facilities for necessary medical records.
- Distribute medical records to the Nursing Supervisor and Pre-Admission team as required.
- Organize and prepare charts for resident admissions and re-admissions, ensuring all documentation is systematically arranged.
- Prepare necessary paperwork in emergency situations, including when 911 is called, and support nursing staff with emergency protocols.
- Verify that all discharged charts are completed with the required signatures from the interdisciplinary care team.
- Ensure compliance with current Nursing Home guidelines in all documentation.
- Complete discharged charts and scan them into the electronic documentation system.
- Assist nursing staff with scheduling x-ray procedures, lab pickups, and doctor appointments for residents.
- Conduct audits as instructed by the Director of Nursing regarding nursing equipment and supplies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent certification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and manage emergencies effectively.
- Physical capability to perform tasks including lifting and moving supplies up to 25lbs.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Genuine interest in working with the elderly population.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time hourly position at The Actors Fund Home. The successful candidate will be expected to cover assigned shifts as necessary.
