Job Description:

As a Transmission Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of high-voltage electrical systems within offshore substations. Your expertise will be crucial in implementing electrical safety rules, advising on high-voltage electrical installations, and overseeing the commissioning of grid connections.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement electrical safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Advise on high-voltage electrical installations, including wind turbines, offshore substations, and HV submarine and onshore cables.
  • Oversee the commissioning of grid connections, onshore substations, and associated MV/HV/LV plant and equipment.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and integrity of the HV network.
  • Contribute to proactive management, good coordination, and communication between all parties.
  • Participate in outage management and network control in collaboration with Control Engineers.
  • Inspect work sites and perform site safety inspections and auditing for electrical matters.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager to ensure accurate updates are distributed to the Project Management.
  • Prepare and check high-voltage switching schedules.
  • Check method statements for electrical matters.
  • Provide technical advice to working parties for electrical matters.
  • Assist different departments when required.
  • Attend FAT and SAT tests if required.
  • Input to the project commissioning management manual and related documents.
  • Reports from FAT & SAT on the different high-voltage equipment if required.
  • Participate in the planning of resource and work activities.
  • Deliver inputs to the design phase of the project on technical aspects.
Requirements:
  • Appropriate electrical qualification and background.
  • Ability to complete GWO courses and HUET with CA-EBS if required by site.
  • Several years of operation and commissioning experience within the field of high-voltage electricity.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of working experience within onshore substations systems.
  • Knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear.
  • Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out or specific switching, tagging, and isolation procedures.
  • Knowledge in switching and isolation of HV/MV/LV equipment.
  • Ability to read and decipher electrical drawing schematics.
  • Flexibility to work/live offshore for extended periods.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Applications.
  • Flexibility to travel for work locations.
  • Knowledge or certification in OSHA 10, NFPA 70e, and NESC standards.
