The county's 552 miles of county roads and 249 miles of unorganized township roads are maintained by the Perkins County Highway Department, which consists of a Highway Superintendent, one Foreman, and eight Highway Workers.

The department operates out of Bison, SD, and is responsible for maintaining the county's road network, including bridges, traffic control signs, fences, and other related facilities. Employees work closely with the public to ensure that roads are safe and well-maintained.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Class A CDL or be able to obtain one within one year. You must also be at least 18 years old. Regularly working 40-60 hours per week is required.

Salary and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $19.00-$19.75 per hour, depending on experience. In addition to your hourly wage, you will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including vacation time, sick leave, medical/dental/life insurance, and state retirement system participation.
