Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pretrial Services Specialist to join our team at the Kentucky Judicial Branch. As a Pretrial Services Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the fair and efficient administration of justice in our state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough interviews with defendants in jail to assess their eligibility for pretrial release.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments to determine the risk level of defendants and make recommendations to the trial courts.
  • Monitor compliance with conditions of release and diversion programs.
  • Prepare detailed written reports and statistics for monthly reports.
  • Collaborate with community resources to provide diversion and conditional release options.
  • Appear in court as needed to provide testimony and support.
  • Prepare affidavits of indigency for the courts.
  • Enter data into the Pretrial Release Information Management System.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • No prior experience required, but an Associate's Degree with 2 years of job-related experience or a High School Degree with 4 years of job-related experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass FBI clearance to obtain NCIC certification.
  • Must be able to work in a detention center environment.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Travel may be required to attend training and meetings.
