About the Role

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in surgical procedures under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses
  • Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintain a sterile field
  • Perform a variety of functions, including checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, and passing instruments to the surgeon and assistant
  • Prepare sterile dressing and clean instruments for terminal sterilization
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients
  • Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure
  • Participate in the intraoperative 'timeout'
  • Collect, identify, and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition
Requirements
  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a military surgical technology program, or certification as a Surgical Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Preferred qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist
Physical Requirements

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. It also requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds, and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing over 75 pounds periodically.
