Job Summary

As a Speech Language Pathologist at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitative services to patients who have reduced communicative or swallow function. Your primary goal will be to improve functional communication and swallow skills, while also providing patient and family education and serving as a resource for community services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Quality Care: Integrate examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention to optimize outcomes. Optimize communicative effectiveness.
  • Promote a Safe and Clean Working Environment: Comply with policies and procedures, rules, and regulations governing the environment of care and patient safety.
  • Determine and/or Facilitate Discharge/Discontinuation of Services: Analyze achievement of anticipated goals and expected outcomes, plan discharge/discontinuation, and provide appropriate home instruction, follow-up, or referral.
  • Record Patient Services: Document, date, and authenticate speech therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory guidelines. Bill for specific interventions provided.
  • Develop and Enhance Professional Knowledge and Skills: Participate in continuing education, review professional publications, and provide learning experiences for professional development.
  • Contribute to Team Effort: Embrace change to achieve common goals, demonstrate willingness to provide service at other sites as necessary, investigate opportunities for new lines of services, contribute to the development of peers, promote a positive work environment, and accomplish related results as needed.
  • Comply with Federal, State, and Local Legal and Professional Requirements: Understand and adhere to current standards of practice for speech therapy, guide for professional conduct, including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Provide appropriate supervision to speech therapist assistants and students.
  • Develop Leadership Skills: Assist with supervision of staff, serve as a mentor to other staff, propose, investigate, and implement new methods or problem-solving, assist with program planning, provide input and information for budget development, provide input to, and/or deliver staff performance appraisals.
  • Protect Patient Information and Confidentiality: Secure all information in confidential space, follow facility confidentiality policy.
  • Educate Students and Volunteers: Supervise/provide educational experiences, provide instruction with verbal and written feedback to students and clinical institutions, and arrange educational events with other staff.

  • Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech and Hearing Association, and licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Work Experience: Related experience as a student or practicing clinician preferred.
