Your Role in Our Team

As an IC design engineer at Normal, you'll work closely with our silicon and hardware R&D team to develop and implement novel thermodynamic computing architectures. This is a flexible role for ambitious early-career IC designers, offering opportunities to work on analog, digital, or physical design, or a combination of the three.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the entire development process of our silicon, from idea to architecture to implementation to tape-out and testing.
  • Implement analog and mixed-signal components in Cadence Virtuoso, including amplifiers, memory cells, and oscillators.
  • Design and implement digital components on our ASICs and in our FPGA test harness, including serial and parallel interface controllers, signal processing algorithms, and calibration algorithms.
  • Support physical implementation of digital logic on ASICs and FPGAs using Cadence and Xilinx tools.
  • Participate in the tape-out, bring-up, and testing of Normal's silicon.
What We're Looking For
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso for design and layout of analog blocks.
  • Understanding of design and layout techniques to minimize mismatch and parasitics while maximizing performance.
  • Experience in Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
  • Understanding of best practices of testbench design.
  • Experience in scripting languages, including Python, Perl, and/or TCL.
What Elevates Your Application
  • Fluent in C and/or C++.
  • Experience working on mixed-signal systems, like PLLs, ADCs, or DACs.
  • Experience with asynchronous logic.
  • Proficiency with VerilogA.
  • Experience with foundries & foundry aggregators to help acquire, set up, and support PDKs, set up and perform LVS and DRC flows, and tape out a completed silicon product.
