Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Repair Specialist to join our team at the Ohio Department of Commerce. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, replacement, and repair of plumbing equipment, including water and steam lines, sewer pipes, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, replacement, and repair of electrical equipment, including light fixtures, electrical outlets, and switches.
  • Perform carpentry work, including skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings, equipment, and wooden structures.
  • Assist in painting and minor painting of fixtures, rooms, buildings, signs, and equipment.
  • Operate machine tools and welding equipment to make repairs to metal parts and equipment.
  • Perform interior custodial duties, including mopping, sweeping, and waxing floors.
  • Perform exterior grounds keeping duties, including removing snow and ice from sidewalks.
Requirements
  • Formal education in arithmetic, including addition and subtraction, and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
  • 6 months of training or 6 months of experience in maintenance repair work, including basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and masonry repair.
  • Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type and size regulated by sections of Ohio Revised Code.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in facilities maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and machinery operation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
