Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable School Bus Driver to transport students to and from school, following designated routes and schedules in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Safely Operate a School Bus
- Safely operate a school bus in compliance with all traffic laws, regulations, and district policies.
- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Vehicle Inspections
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure that the bus is in good working condition, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow Designated Routes and Schedules
- Follow designated routes and schedules, picking up and dropping off students at designated stops in a timely manner.
- Ensure Student Safety and Well-being
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students while on the bus, enforcing safety rules and procedures, and maintaining order and discipline as needed.
- Assist Students
- Assist students, including helping them board and exit the bus safely, securing seat belts or child safety restraints as required, and providing assistance to students with special needs.
- Communicate Effectively
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and district personnel, providing courteous and professional service and addressing concerns or inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Follow Emergency Procedures
- Follow emergency procedures and protocols in the event of accidents, breakdowns, or other emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and colleagues.
- Complete Required Paperwork
- Complete required paperwork, such as daily logs, mileage reports, and incident reports, accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining accurate records of bus operations and student counts.
- Participate in Training and Development
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance driving skills, safety knowledge, and customer service skills.
- Adhere to District Policies and Procedures
- Adhere to district policies and procedures regarding driver conduct, safety protocols, and student transportation, promoting a culture of safety and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger (P) endorsement and school bus (S) endorsement.
- Clean driving record with no more than [X] points or violations in the past [Y] years.
- Previous experience as a bus driver or commercial driver preferred.
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and district personnel.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, especially in emergency situations.
- Commitment to safety and professionalism, with a focus on providing exceptional service to students and families.
