Nurse Educator

This position is responsible for staff development, which includes the application of adult education principles, as well as patient and family education. The incumbent performs an outcome evaluation relative to clinical practice, provides consultation to other health care providers, and is an excellent clinician.
Key Responsibilities:
The position is accountable for advanced knowledge in the specialty area and applies theories and concepts derived from the biological and behavioral sciences. The incumbent is also accountable for integrating adult learning theory into the nursing specialty. The position requires advanced leadership skills, including role modeling, coaching, and monitoring to develop the nursing staff. The incumbent also has consultation skills to collaborate with nursing management, other departments, and professionals within the hospital as well as in the community. The position requires advanced clinical practice skills, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a patient population whose age is determined by the particular educator's specialty. The incumbent also assists with legal and regulatory standards to maintain quality care. The incumbent also has advanced adult education skills, including developing staff using a variety of adult learning principles, including didactic, self-directed, and clinical modalities. The position requires outcome evaluation of these teaching and learning strategies. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meets standards of quality as measured by the department Competence with Special Populations competency standards. Evidence-based nursing practice, along with critical thinking skills, are required to provide optimally safe patient care when interacting with internal and external contacts and exercising judgment and making decisions. Professional nursing practice is congruent with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. This position does not provide patient care. Experience:
Requires two years clinical experience in the specialty area. License(s):Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license. Certification(s):Requires current BLS certification by the American Heart Association standards
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
