Registered Nurse

Licensed registered nurses with expertise in specialty procedure care are sought to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. These nurses will provide high-level care to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, vascular, GYN, and gastroenterology. They will utilize their knowledge of the procedure process to effectively communicate medical issues with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary care with ACC, CDU, and external specialty care groups as needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-level care to patients undergoing various medical procedures, including general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, vascular, GYN, and gastroenterology.
- Utilize knowledge of the procedure process to effectively communicate medical issues with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary care with ACC, CDU, and external specialty care groups as needed.
- Perform pre-operative assessments, initiate intravenous catheter care, central line care, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and vital sign assessment.
- Manage nursing care of sedated patients, work in conjunction with Charge Nurse/Surgeon to address any case or patient concerns, and assist the operative team to create and maintain a safe environment.
- Provide knowledge-based technical assistance to physicians, use of instruments and medical devices within the procedure room, and continuous vital sign assessment.
- Monitor and evaluate patient condition and response to procedure and sedation, provide patient and family education, initiate emergency care of procedural suite patients as needed, and patient follow-up.
- Review laboratory data for abnormal or unusual results, confer with physicians as needed based on the medical status of the patient, and document patient information in Health Connect (EMR).
- Provide emotional counseling and ongoing support to patients and their families in matters relating to pre, intra, and post-operative care of specialty procedures, surgical intervention, prognosis, and follow-up care as needed.
- Work closely with medical, nursing, and ancillary staff to provide quality and safe care, emphasizing continuity between ACC, CDU, and specialty services.
- Act as liaison with nursing and medical staff when outpatients are admitted to the hospital, maintain records pertaining to patient care, and participate in continuing education.
- Minimum three (3) years of RN clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum one (1) year Critical care or/and Operating room experience.
- Associates Degree or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support required at hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support required at hire.
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
