Position Overview:

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a dynamic and innovative Resident Lifestyle Director (Activity Director) for our esteemed senior living community, Cogir of Kirkland. This role is essential in curating a comprehensive program of enriching activities tailored to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional health of our residents.

The Resident Lifestyle Director (Activity Director) is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of engaging activities, both individually and in group settings, as well as special events. This position plays a vital role in the management team, ensuring that all policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented. Additionally, this role involves hiring, training, and supervising full-time associates (Activity Assistants and/or Coordinators) to meet program expectations and may include oversight of the transportation department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all life-enrichment activities, outings, and programs, ensuring they align with residents' needs.
  • Design and facilitate activities including arts, crafts, music, drama, educational sessions, and fitness programs.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter and activity calendar, showcasing your creativity and photography skills.
  • Recruit, train, and manage Resident Lifestyle Coordinators (Activity Assistants).
  • Engage and supervise volunteers as needed.
  • Encourage resident participation and celebrate their accomplishments.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies through organized storage.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to plan events that promote the community.
  • Assist in budget development for the department alongside the administrator.
  • Foster family and community involvement in the activity program through newsletters and networking.
  • Contribute to the community's quality of care through active participation.
  • Coordinate transportation for residents to and from external events, which may involve driving a company vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and leading life-enrichment activities for seniors in Independent Living (IL), Assisted Living (AL), and Memory Care (MC) settings is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience in senior living, hospitality, or healthcare management is preferred.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in gerontology, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Training or at least 1 year of experience in Dementia Care is advantageous.
  • Strong background in event planning is highly preferred.
  • Creativity, passion for service, and excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in various computer systems, particularly Excel, Word, and Canva.
  • Strong initiative, sound judgment, and a pleasant demeanor with the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead meetings effectively.
