Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Student Transportation of America. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs on large commercial vehicles. You will also be required to perform thorough preventive maintenance inspections, as well as roadside and emergency service repairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics, with 2+ years of experience and accreditation from a school or certification program.

Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough, accurate preventative maintenance inspections
• Complete all required maintenance operations, including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation
• Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed, under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
• Perform complex operations, including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests
• Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical defects
• Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately
• Maintain tools and workplaces in a neat and orderly condition
• Perform other duties as required, including emergency roadside services and on-call service calls
• May be required to drive vans, buses, and vehicles to perform road tests and other duties

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or mechanic
• Accreditation from a school or certification program
• Complete all training requirements
• Pre-employment background checks
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
