Position Overview: Solar Electrician, Install Lead

Sunnova Energy is seeking a skilled Solar Electrician, Install Lead to oversee the installation of battery systems on existing solar setups. The primary role of the Solar Electrician, Install Lead is to ensure that installations meet all regulatory standards, quality benchmarks, and performance expectations while delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will adhere to all safety protocols, demonstrate adaptability, possess strong communication skills, and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Familiarity with standard electrical practices, the ability to interpret electrical diagrams, and maintaining inventory for vehicle stock are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain battery storage systems and electric vehicle chargers in accordance with engineering specifications, permits, and electrical codes.
  • Conduct site assessments, documenting all necessary information to facilitate installation preparations.
  • Submit service reports promptly following the completion of work orders.
  • Work closely with manufacturers and the engineering team to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Utilize expertise and electrical testing tools to commission systems and diagnose system-related problems.
  • Identify solutions for technical design challenges, particularly in electrical systems used during construction.
  • Manage vehicle material stock and equipment inventory effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and practices set forth by Sunnova.
  • Provide customer training on system operation and maintenance.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns and issues promptly, maintaining clear communication and documentation.
  • Document key communications using appropriate Sunnova software.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an electrician, solar installer, or solar maintenance technician.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
  • Valid Driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Formal apprenticeship or vocational training.
  • 1+ years of experience in the solar electric industry is preferred.
  • 3+ years of electrical experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Additional Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organized with a professional appearance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Working Conditions
  • Job locations vary based on project sites.
  • Estimated travel time is around 50%.
  • Driving is required; a valid Driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel for specific projects is essential.
Physical Requirements
  • Long hours spent outdoors on residential rooftops, traveling to customer locations, and performing both ground and rooftop work.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including cold, hot, and humid environments.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; assistance may be provided for larger items.
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, and driving for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Work postures include reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, and handling objects above and below shoulder height.
