William Charles Construction, a leading provider of electrical construction services, is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to oversee the estimating department for high voltage projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the estimating activities, including bid management, resource assignment, staff development, and interdepartmental communication.

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, advanced estimating experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement in estimating practices. You will work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives and ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the firm's estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving all estimating practices.
  • Conduct project meetings/huddles as needed to communicate project requirements and establish timelines and estimating goals for effective and timely submittals.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties and work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives.
  • Develop department protocol for best estimating practices, review/approve bids, specifications, drawings, and contract to proactively solve potential issues, and inform preconstruction staff of project requirements and owner directives.
Qualifications:
  • Proven high-level construction estimating experience as well as leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Proven management experience, a history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Possess an understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications.
  • Familiar with the industry's leading estimating software.
  • Understand risk assessment analysis and have estimating abilities in multiple markets and geographic locations.
