Job Opportunity

Pulmonary Medicine Associates is seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Sacramento area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the general supervision of a physician, monitor and evaluate patient responses, document interventions, and revise the plan of care as necessary using established and approved protocols.
  • Assist physicians on rounds and conduct comprehensive history and physical exams.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, write prescriptions, and educate patients on available treatments and associated side effects.
  • Collaborate with patients, family members, and other healthcare team members to review the plan of care and achieve the best possible outcome.
  • Document all services and orders in the patient's electronic medical record and communicate with referring physicians to facilitate ongoing care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school offering an advanced degree in nurse practice (ARNP).
  • Current, unrestricted California NP license.
  • Current Board certification as an advanced practice hospice and palliative care nurse by a national recognized certifying agency (preferred).
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of at least five years related experience as an RN or NP, with at least two years of nursing experience in palliative or hospice care.
  • Ability to prioritize and establish work standards and business goals.
  • Ability to relate to patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to provide medical services within the scope of licensing and training.
