POSITION TITLE: Racing Steward

TYPE OF POSITION: Seasonal

OVERVIEW:

The Racing Officials organization is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Racing Steward. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity of racing events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience as a Steward or Racing Official. A successful applicant must hold certification from a recognized national body (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) and maintain their certification in good standing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Racing Steward will be tasked with enforcing the regulations set forth by the relevant authorities and the Racing Commission. Key responsibilities include:

  • Making determinations regarding potential rule violations.
  • Participating in hearings and issuing decisions on all racing-related matters.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates should be proficient in computer usage and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of the racing industry, particularly concerning regulatory compliance and enforcement, is crucial. The ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds is also necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have 20-20 vision (corrected) and the ability to differentiate colors. The role requires climbing multiple flights of stairs daily, walking between various areas, and the capability to lift items weighing up to 35 lbs.
