Mammography Technologist

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team in Dunn Loring, Virginia.

• Administer sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.
• Demonstrate radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure patient and team member safety.

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of radiologic principles/theory, anatomy, and pathology processes.
• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient charts.
• Assist the physician in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
• Demonstrate the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them.

• Certifications: Radiologic Technologist - Mammography within 12 months of hire, Basic Life Support upon start, American Registered Radiologic Technologists upon start, Radiologic Technologist-Mammo ARRT 12 months upon acceptance of the offer.
• Licensure: Licensed Radiologic Technologist Within 12 Months.
• Experience: None required.
• Education: Vocational / Technical Radiology- Graduate of an accredited school of radiography, AART required.

Mammography Technologist:

The Mammography Technologist administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure the safety of patients. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines. Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and team members. Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards while acting as a resource to radiology students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions.

Responsibilities:

- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles/theory, anatomy, and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations.

- Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent from patient charts to assist the physician in optimizing the performance/interpretation of examinations.

- Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.

Requirements:

Certifications:

- Radiologic Technologist - Mammography within 12 months of hire;

- Basic Life Support upon start;

- American Registered Radiologic Technologists upon start;

- Radiologic Technologist-Mammo ARRT 12 months upon acceptance of the offer

Licensure:

- Licensed Radiologic Technologist Within 12 Months --required for all INOVA nonhospital Licensed centers, but not required if working onsite at an Inova Hospital.

- None required

Education:
