Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Psychiatrist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our mental health leadership team, you will be responsible for providing advanced psychiatric care and leadership to our clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex psychiatric needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring the highest level of care and quality of life for our clients.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to our interdisciplinary team, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication.
  • Conduct regular medication reviews, lab work analysis, and treatment plan modifications to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review committees, and clinical practice discussions to drive excellence in psychiatric care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, behavioral health specialists, and medical staff, to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in psychiatric and behavioral health treatments, ensuring our clients receive the most effective and evidence-based care.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Psychiatry or related field.
  • Current licensure to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in psychiatric care, with a focus on intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of autonomy and accountability.
