Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses, including day, night, and online classes, at the main campus and extension centers.
  • Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
  • Grade assignments in a meaningful way and return them to students in a timely manner.
  • Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled office hours or by appointment.
  • Encourage student opinion survey completion and review the results to improve student success.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  • Understand and teach principles of cooking in a commercial kitchen.
  • Instruct students on chemical, biological, and physical food preparation, processing, and production.
  • Understand and know food safety concerns, proper cleaning/sanitizing, and work safety in a commercial kitchen.
  • Utilize tools, equipment, culinary math, and different cooking techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Mental demands include detailed work, student contact, deadline-oriented work, problem-solving, and confidentiality.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, handling, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, and working overhead.
  • Work environment includes exposure to wet, humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat/cold, and moderate to loud noise levels.
