FOSA Director

The University of Virginia seeks a dynamic and experienced Director to lead the Foundation of the State Arboretum (FOSA). As a key member of the University's team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support the mission of Blandy Experimental Farm and the State Arboretum of Virginia.

• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans, special events, and targeted major gift strategies to grow support for Blandy and Arboretum programs.
• Build and steward effective long-term relationships with donors, stakeholders, and the broader community to enhance the University's ability to serve the public and raise the profile of Blandy regionally and state-wide.
• Collaborate with FOSA's Board of Directors, Blandy faculty and staff, and other University fundraisers to achieve fundraising goals and objectives.
• Oversee daily operations of FOSA, including managing the annual operating budget and ensuring compliance with University and outside agency requirements.
• Delegate responsibilities to a Communications and Events Manager and an Administrative Specialist to meet fundraising, promotional, and organizational goals.

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit administration, or a related field.
• Proven track record of meeting or surpassing fundraising goals, with experience in capital campaigns and donor relations.
• Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to build strong coalitions and advance the mission of FOSA.
• Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures specific to nonprofit organizations, with experience using donor, accounting, and communications software.

This position requires work at a desk using computers and frequent activities out of the office. The employee must be comfortable standing for extended periods, working at outdoor events regardless of weather conditions, walking and driving on and offsite, and lifting and carrying 25 pounds.
