Cincinnati Children's Hospital is actively seeking a Full-time, In-house, Staff Physician specializing in Neonatology and/or Newborn Special Care Nursery. This role focuses on advancing neonatal care within the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky/Dayton regions.
The position offers extensive clinical exposure, fostering the development of robust bedside clinical skills. Responsibilities will encompass service at various facilities, including Children's Level IV NICU, (5) Level III, and (9) Level II NICUs, along with delivery attendance, stabilization care, and well-newborn examinations and discharges.
Opportunities for mentorship and the education of medical students, residents, nursing, and allied health professionals are integral to this role, alongside participation in newborn-centered quality improvement and clinical initiatives.
This position provides flexible work schedules, emphasizing night and weekend shifts, with weekday time off, complemented by a competitive compensation package.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To deliver safe and effective medical care to patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Adhere to care guidelines and treatment protocols for infants, children, and adolescents, supporting their mental and physical growth and development. Engage in all departmental and divisional activities and initiatives while maintaining good standing within the department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care: Deliver direct patient care to pediatric patients within the scope of medical licensure, education, and experience. Participate in compassionate and effective patient care, consistent with professional advancement and responsibilities. Conduct patient examinations to identify diseases and establish preventive health practices. Assess the nature and extent of diseases or injuries, prescribing and administering medications and immunizations.
Perform necessary procedures, gather and analyze data, and make informed decisions regarding patient care, including initial screenings, assessments, diagnoses, prognoses, care plans, and follow-ups.
May develop, maintain, and modify patient-specific care plans based on assessments, and coordinate care for discharged patients.
Effective Communication: Ensure the exchange of relevant patient care and clinical information during admissions, referrals, transfers, or discharges.
Provide data that contributes to assessing patient needs and the organization's capability to deliver appropriate care.
Commitment to Clinical Excellence: Actively engage in departmental and system training and educational programs. Stay current in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
Policy Compliance: Maintain good standing by adhering to licensure and credentialing criteria.
Comply with policies and procedures that protect patient rights regarding informed consent and confidentiality as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws.
Follow established ethical guidelines in all decisions and actions related to marketing, admissions, transfers, discharges, and billing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Applicants must be board eligible or certified in Pediatrics and/or Neonatology, with experience in Level II/III/IV NICU settings.
