Job Description

The Anticipated Director of Special Services will oversee the successful operation of the special education program (Pre-K - 12). This 12-month position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as expertise in special education compliance requirements as outlined in the NJ Administrative Code.

  • Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of the district's special education programs, curriculum, instructional materials, and school services.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of related accounts in the school budget.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for special education curriculum planning, coordination, and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong ability to organize and multitask, and prior administrative and supervisory experience. They will also be able to identify priorities for program improvement based upon analysis of data and achievement indicators.

Responsibilities

This role will require the following responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff.
  2. Coordinate and supervise activities of child study team members, speech-language specialists, other special services personnel, and related services.
  3. Participate in the selection and recommendation for adoption of all textbooks, supplementary instructional materials, and delivery systems involving special education.
  4. Serve as a primary point of contact for parents of students receiving special education.
