General Overview: A vital role in the provision of healthcare services and patient management.
Supervision: Reports to Clinical Supervisor / Mid-Level Provider
Physical Requirements: The position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as the ability to lift and transport patients and equipment. The role involves manual dexterity and coordination, normal hearing and vision, and exposure to bodily fluids.
Work Environment: The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials typical of a clinical setting. Frequent use of computer systems is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute a range of nursing and administrative tasks.
- Support the physician or mid-level provider in delivering safe and efficient patient care.
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, documenting histories and vital signs in electronic medical records.
- Set up examination and treatment areas with necessary supplies and instruments, ensuring equipment is maintained and sterilized.
- Administer injections, apply dressings, and perform specific nursing tasks as directed by the physician.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of medical procedures.
- Manage patient prescriptions as ordered by the physician, documenting appropriately.
- Coordinate scheduling of tests and treatments, obtaining referrals as necessary.
- Handle incoming calls related to patient health, documenting significant communications in medical records.
- Facilitate external service requests through electronic systems as directed by the physician.
- Prepare documentation and testing orders for upcoming clinic days, ensuring reports are filed in electronic records.
- Engage in ongoing education and maintain professional affiliations.
- Provide coverage for colleagues during breaks.
- Adhere to clinic policies regarding compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Perform additional related duties to ensure efficient office operations and quality patient care.
- All staff members are expected to prioritize patient care over administrative tasks, ensuring teamwork and accountability in completing duties.
- Each staff member is responsible for tracking their own tasks and ensuring completion by the end of the workday.
- All prescriptions must be validated by the appropriate medical personnel before processing.
Independence: The role involves independent execution of duties in line with established protocols, with oversight provided as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in assisting with various treatments and medications, taking vital signs, maintaining accurate records, and fostering effective relationships with patients and staff. Ability to respond calmly in emergencies, interpret guidelines, and communicate effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
