Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and Treat Mental Health Conditions: Conduct thorough assessments and develop effective treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions.
  • Supervise Mental Health Professionals: Provide guidance and support to mental health nurse practitioners, psychologists, and social workers to ensure high-quality care.
  • Develop Program Content and Activities: Create and lead activities to enhance social development and promote group goals.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with primary care providers, nurses, and medical assistants to develop patient care plans.
  • Provide Patient Education and Support: Educate patients on mental health conditions, treatment options, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain Confidentiality and Comply with Regulations: Ensure the confidentiality of patient data and comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine: Possess a valid medical degree and be board certified in Psychiatry.
  • Valid License and DEA Registration: Maintain a valid, unrestricted license in the state of employment and a current DEA registration.
  • Experience and Skills: Possess a minimum of 1-3 years of clinical medical practice experience with adult patients and strong computer skills, including EMR experience.
  • Certifications and Training: Hold current certifications in Basic Life Support and ACLS, as specified by individual VAMC contract.
