Position Overview

The Cashier plays a crucial role in managing transactions related to the sale and return of products.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

  • Exhibit a positive image of Ace Hardware.
  • Welcome customers as they enter and thank them upon their departure.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while interacting with customers and team members.
  • Efficiently manage customer checkout lines.
  • Respond to phone calls and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Communicate any issues that require management attention.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
  • Support in pricing, stocking, and bagging merchandise.

Register Management

  • Adhere to all cash register transaction protocols.
  • Ensure accurate balancing of the register drawer.
  • Implement any Store Support Center programs or promotions at the registers.
  • Participate in store and cashier meetings.

Front End Maintenance

  • Keep the checkout areas and entrance tidy and organized.
  • Assist in stocking and maintaining impulse counters.
  • Ensure promotional materials are available in shopping carts.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and forms at the front end.
  • Help decorate the front end in accordance with Store Support Center guidelines.
  • Request cart pickups as needed.
  • Notify management of merchandise returns that need to be processed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: Previous cashier and customer service experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 40 lbs), and climb as necessary.
