Key Responsibilities

Transportation Logistics Coordination:

  • Plan and organize transportation routes for incoming materials while supporting outgoing logistics across all warehouse sites.
  • Secure transportation services within established budgetary constraints and freight allowances.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and organizational policies throughout transportation operations.
  • Prepare necessary customs documentation for international shipping and clearance.
  • Develop and uphold transportation schedules to guarantee prompt delivery of products.
  • Monitor and oversee transportation activities to promptly identify and resolve any delays or complications.
  • Maintain communication with drivers, carriers, and other relevant parties to relay updates on schedules and modifications.

Compliance and Administrative Duties:

  • Stay informed on transportation laws and industry regulations.
  • Ensure all logistics activities adhere to local, provincial, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Keep precise records and documentation related to logistics operations.
  • Process invoices, approve within designated limits, and secure approvals for higher amounts.
  • Oversee the flow of documentation throughout the supply chain, from warehouse to finance.

Problem Resolution and Interdepartmental Coordination:

  • Address any challenges that arise during logistics operations, including delays, route adjustments, or vehicle issues.
  • Collaborate closely with drivers, carriers, and other stakeholders to resolve problems and minimize disruptions.
  • Work in tandem with purchasing, warehouse, and customer service teams to align logistics activities with broader business goals.
  • Communicate logistics needs and updates to relevant stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance logistics processes and boost efficiency.
  • Implement improvements, such as route optimization tools or procedural enhancements, to streamline logistics operations and reduce expenses.
  • Stay current with industry trends and standards in procurement.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in logistics and transportation within a manufacturing or distribution context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in logistics coordination or management.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Professional certifications such as APICS and CPIM are advantageous.
