Position Overview:

The Packaging Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of packaging machinery. This position is responsible for ensuring that products are packaged in accordance with established specifications while upholding rigorous quality standards. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot minor machinery issues are essential for success in this role. The standard working hours for this position are from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a starting pay rate of $21.50 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Packaging Machinery: Set up, operate, and fine-tune packaging equipment to ensure accurate and efficient product packaging, including filling, sealing, labeling, and coding.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections of products and packaging materials to identify defects or inconsistencies, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on packaging machinery, including cleaning and lubricating, and report any malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Production Monitoring: Track production rates and adjust machinery settings as necessary to meet production goals and minimize downtime.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety procedures to maintain a secure working environment and report any hazards or incidents to management.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of packaging operations, including quantities packaged and materials used, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to ensure a seamless production process and communicate any concerns for improvement.
  • Inventory Oversight: Assist in monitoring packaging material usage and ensure proper storage and replenishment as needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor technical issues with packaging equipment, escalating more complex problems as required.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or production manager to support operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to comprehend technical manuals and operational procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in packaging machinery is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a packaging or production environment is preferred.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a production facility where personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. The environment includes moving parts and machinery.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions, including grasping, lifting, pushing, and reaching.
  • Exposure to varying noise levels, particularly in operational areas.
