Key Responsibilities
  • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
  • Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Responds to alarm company off-hours calls.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • 2 years' experience as a security officer or law enforcement officer.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of security procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing for the purpose of obtaining and disseminating information.
  • Exercise diplomacy when dealing with people in sensitive situations.
  • Apply active listening techniques in order to obtain complete and accurate information.
  • Function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Apply the principles of supervision to direct the work activities of subordinates.
  • Rapidly prioritize a variety of tasks and take appropriate action.
  • Must have sufficient computer knowledge to perform clerical tasks and prepare daily reports.
  • Ability to apply first responder techniques in performing emergency first aid and CPR.
  • May be required to work irregular hours, holidays, weekends, and overtime.
  • May be required to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
