Job Summary

UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in Siler City, North Carolina. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the clinical activities of our healthcare system by performing a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow to ensure accurate and timely testing.
  • Participate in teams or perform special projects/assignments to improve laboratory operations and patient care.
  • Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees on laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Perform quality control and equipment maintenance to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory tests.
  • Conduct routine and less standardized test procedures, including special chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required for testing.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Eligibility to sit for the Medical Technologist (MT) exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain certification as a Medical Technologist within one year of becoming exam eligible.
  • No prior experience required, but prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 1:00pm - 9:30pm, with variable weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to support the clinical activities of our healthcare system.
