Supervision:
This position does not have any direct reports.

Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Floor/Utility Technician is tasked with the maintenance and restoration of various flooring types, including tile and carpet. This role involves executing tasks such as stripping, waxing, scrubbing, buffing, and carpet cleaning in designated areas. Candidates must possess knowledge of floor care equipment, materials, and procedures, ensuring quality workmanship while adhering to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Schedule necessary floor maintenance tasks with the supervisor or lead.
2. Inspect and prepare the required equipment and cleaning agents for scheduled activities.
3. Execute floor maintenance tasks, followed by a thorough quality assessment of the completed work.
4. Secure all equipment after task completion.
5. Report necessary repairs and label equipment as needed.
6. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in custodial services.
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to inquiries from clients and colleagues.
- Proficient in reading and following safety instructions for chemicals and equipment.
- Willingness to learn to operate specialized custodial equipment, including scrubbers and buffers.
- Strong written communication skills in business English.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving abilities.

Licenses or Certifications:
Depending on local, state, and/or contract requirements, a valid driver's license may be necessary.

Physical Demands:
Employees must be capable of performing the following physical tasks for extended periods:
- Maneuvering throughout the worksite.
- Standing and walking.
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping.
- Lifting items weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Pushing or pulling equipment such as vacuums and carts.
- Climbing ladders or step stools as needed.

Work Environment:
This role is performed in office settings or at client locations, which may include various environments such as commissaries, federal courthouses, or military installations. Employees may encounter exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment noise, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
