Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Pathway Advisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a Pathway Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in all aspects of their assigned pathway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising services to students through structured individual and group meetings.
  • Develop a working knowledge of College policies, procedures, academic programs, and services.
  • Support and participate in both classroom and internship/externship of assigned pathway students in an effort to enhance their development and learning experiences.
  • Conduct appropriate referrals for students as needed.
  • Assist with program review and student retention efforts such as surveys, focus groups, orientation sessions, outreach campaigns, and workshops.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with PSC administrators, faculty, parents/guardians, and students to support student success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with solid proficiency with computer software.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience with students from low-income, disadvantaged educational backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist students in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Advising or counseling experience in a college setting.
  • FAFSA knowledge and experience in financial aid and financial literacy.
  • Working knowledge along with comfort level in assisting students with college and university admissions, transfer policies, and financial assistance processes.
  • Proven commitment to student success.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in counseling or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working with guided pathways.
  • Experience working in a community college.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Financial Aid.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse setting.
  • Experience with Colleague.
Working Conditions

The employee typically works indoors in an environment protected from the weather. Moderate travel may be required. Physical activities include the ability to carry appropriate recruitment materials sometimes weighing up to 40 pounds.

Salary and Benefits

MIN: $40,952 MID: $51,190 MAX: $61,427 PSC usually brings candidates in at the mid range.
