Job Overview

The role of an Instrumentation Technician involves collaborating with both electrical and piping systems to install essential tubing and instruments necessary for measurement and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct layout, measurement, bending, cutting, threading, reaming, and fitting of hydraulic tubing systems.
  • Demonstrate experience in running tubing on compressors and meter skids.
  • Install single line and group tubing along with fittings.
  • Design and install pneumatic and hydraulic panels and end devices.
  • Fabricate and install tubing trays through precise layout and measurement.
  • Ensure neat routing and bundling of wires and cables to comply with wiring standards.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O modules, VFDs, Interfaces, and Instrumentation.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, and schematics accurately.
  • Utilize machines or hand and power tools to secure components effectively.
  • Execute continuity tests on completed assemblies to ensure functionality.
  • Troubleshoot panels to resolve component malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain updated red-line drawing mark-ups reflecting changes made during fabrication.
  • Communicate any red-line changes to the Engineer or Team Leader for revisions prior to project completion.
  • Collaborate with technical support and clients to guarantee the completeness and accuracy of systems.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as an Instrumentation Technician, with relevant expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic control panel assembly, instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic control logic.
  • Willingness to learn hydraulic tube bending techniques, particularly for 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" tubing.
  • Able to comprehend, assess, and apply technical information effectively.
  • Desire to learn industry standards and electrical theory, including American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
  • Proficient in interpreting piping and instrument diagrams, signal flow diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams, panel drawings, one-line drawings, loop sheets, and wire lists.
  • Possess and be skilled in using standard mechanical and electrical hand tools relevant to the trade.
  • Capable of operating a forklift and company vehicles as required.
  • Exhibit a high standard of quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach and a strong work ethic.
