- Assess and Plan Patient Care: Utilize the nursing process to address age-specific patient needs, including biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/environment, and discharge planning.
- Communicate Effectively: Collaborate and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Apply Infection Control Standards: Adhere to infection control standards to minimize the risk of nosocomial infections for patients and staff.
- Delegate Activities: Delegate activities to ancillary staff following the State Nurse Practice Act.
- Participate in Performance Improvement: Actively participate in Performance Improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Education and Experience: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current New York registration. Baccalaureate in Nursing (BSN) required for all external RNs hired on or after January 1st, 2018.
- Certifications: BLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required. ACLS certification (through American Heart Association) is required for all RNs as of January 1st, 2017 (except NICU and OR RNs).
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends and practices in patient care. One year of acute care nursing experience preferred (excluding medical surgical or step-down).
