Job Overview

Position Title – Youth Ministry Leader

The Youth Ministry Leader, reporting to the Executive Pastor of Next Generation and local outreach, will be tasked with guiding and nurturing the spiritual growth and development of students within the Brookwood Church community. As the head of the Student Ministry, the Youth Ministry Leader will directly oversee the weekly worship gatherings for students and serve as the primary educator, utilizing operational, logistical, and communication skills to facilitate engaging worship experiences.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; seminary education is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in youth or student ministry is essential.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are vital.
  • Prior experience in leading a team comprising staff and volunteers is advantageous.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership – 25%

  • Guide and Develop the Student Ministry Team (3-5 staff members)
    • Articulate a compelling vision for student ministry and empower the Student Ministry Team to realize it.
    • Foster a team culture that emphasizes unity and enables the Student Ministry Team to thrive in their roles.
    • Conduct efficient weekly team meetings to address immediate responsibilities and long-term planning of our calendar, events, values, and strategies.
    • Hold regular one-on-one meetings with each direct report to discuss their experiences in their roles and to receive updates on their mentorship relationships.
  • Recruit and Develop Adult and Student Leaders
    • Identify and enlist both adults and students for volunteer roles within the student ministry.
    • Facilitate regular adult leader meetings to acknowledge their contributions and enhance their skills.
  • Collaborate with Parents to Equip Them as Spiritual Guides and Provide Support
  • Partner with Security Team to Prioritize Safety.

Strategic Planning - 25%

  • Oversee the Development and Execution of Strategies for Discipleship, Evangelism, and Missions
  • Actively engage in disciple-making through a Community Group and lead the Student Ministry Team to do the same.
  • Facilitate meetings with the Student Ministry Team to enhance staff culture.
  • Create accessible pathways for students and adults to connect in groups.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to integrate students into the broader church community.
  • Provide annual opportunities for students to participate in mission trips and equip groups to serve in their community each semester.

Weekly Services, Groups, and Special Events – 50%

  • Lead Weekly Worship Gatherings for Students
  • Develop a semester-based preaching calendar that offers a comprehensive exploration of Scripture and relevant topics for students.
  • Work alongside the Student Worship Pastor to create dynamic worship experiences that facilitate encounters with Jesus.
  • Collaborate with the Student Worship Pastor to recruit and train students for participation in the student ministry worship team.
  • Equip discussion group leaders with the necessary skills and information to effectively guide groups during midweek worship services for students.
  • Oversee the Execution of Other Weekly Gatherings
    • Support the Student Ministry Team in organizing and executing weekly groups for students.
    • Assist the Student Ministry Team in coordinating weekly campus ministries aimed at mobilizing students to share the Gospel.
  • Lead the Student Ministry Team in Planning, Coordinating, and Executing Special Events (e.g., Camps, Retreats, Mission Trips, Special Events)
    • Establish regular opportunities for the Student Ministry Team to plan special events.
    • Collaborate with the Ministries Assistant to create a project plan with timelines, manage communication needs, develop a registration system for each event, and oversee all logistical coordination, preparation, and execution, including travel and accommodations.
    • Organize and guide the Student Ministry Team in recruiting adult volunteers and students for events.
