Role Summary:

The Infection Prevention Registered Nurse (IP RN) is responsible for overseeing infection control initiatives across the organization. This role involves the development and execution of programs that align with current federal, state, and local health regulations and standards, ensuring optimal care quality and safety for all patients. The IP RN collaborates closely with hospital staff and healthcare providers to educate and establish effective policies and procedures aimed at infection prevention and quality enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze infection control data, preparing detailed reports on prevention strategies.
  • Facilitate and coordinate relevant committee meetings as required.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of medical records related to infection control.
  • Engage in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities as needed.
  • Oversee infection prevention reporting tasks.
  • Investigate potential infection cases and report communicable diseases.
  • Maintain effective communication with all interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provide training and educational resources related to infection prevention practices.
  • Lead the implementation of evidence-based infection control guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and local laws and accreditation standards.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and advancements in infection prevention.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Promote the mission and values of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of nursing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Experience with office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Ability to manage complex tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Prior experience in infection prevention is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of delivering educational sessions and reporting findings effectively.

Work Environment:

Location: Paris Community Hospital

Schedule: Monday to Friday, standard business hours.
